The Attuned Room
Integrative psychotherapy
to untangle the tough stuff,
together
For adults & young people
Based in South Birmingham and online
Hi, I’m Heidi
An integrative psychotherapist helping people who feel stuck in their own inner messiness.
To gently untangle it, find clarity, and embrace their whole self.
Unfiltered, real, and wonderfully human!
With 10 years’ experience across the NHS, education and private sector, I value working authentically through real-life stuff.
I don't subscribe to the trend of having one perfectly marketed therapy niche. Whilst there are themes I work closely with, I've yet to meet anyone whose life fits neatly into a single category.
My practice focuses on meeting real people where they are, with their imperfectly packaged lives, with no jargon, no hierarchy & no AI.
Because we're all wonderfully complex, constantly changing, and often carrying several things at once.
Think of therapy with me as two people ‘sitting soft’ and connecting … preferably over a brew.
The Process
-

Reach Out
Drop me an message and I will get back to you typically within 3-4 working days (via email).
-

Initial Discussion
We’ll meet virtually for 20 minutes, free of charge, to help us both see if we are a good fit.
Before this discussion I will ask you to fill in an online form, sharing a basic overview of your thoughts & feelings about coming to therapy to help shape our discussion.
-

Planning Together
If we both agree to continue, we’ll meet for the first session.
For child work, I meet with the parents/carers before the 1st session to complete an assessment to gain a clearer picture on the relevant family background and presenting needs etc.
-

Therapy Begins
We’ll start the work, with space to adapt and shape the process together as we go. With lots of opportunity to ask questions about the process.
Take What You Need
-
Once I receive your enquiry I will reach out to arrange an initial chat, this is held virtually Instead, we’ll have a free 20-minute chat, perhaps over a cup of tea (virtually or face-face) or, if it’s a young person, while playing a game of Connect 4 or Lego. It’s simply a chance for us to get a sense of each other and see whether I’m the right person to support you.
If we decide to work together, we can then arrange your first session and take it from there.
-
50 mins, known as the ‘therapy hour’. Come weekly or fortnightly, online or in-person.
-
A one-off, or ad-hoc session(s), to gain some headspace and clarity on a situation you are going through. This is like a workout for your mind & soul, much faster paced and directive than my traditional therapy approach for those who need to sort some stuff out, but don’t feel they need longer support.
Before we meet, we’ll agree on the focus so we’re on the same page, making the most of our time together.
If it feels right for you, this can always extended into a longer therapy format if needed.
